Adapter Hell
Ok -- why is it I have fourteen thousand different adapters . . . one for each little electronic device that has littered my life. I had the Pocket PC 6700 and for once thought someone got it right. . . it used mini-USB connector and standard voltage. Then I bought my Motorola H500 blue-tooth headset and eureka -- the same nirvana with min-USB. Now I've been "upgraded" to a Palm 700WX phone, and I've got two ports . . . one is my data connector, the other my power cord. The power cord is a spindly thin plastic piece that plugs in and has same voltage (5 volts) as other devices. Why must we subject ourselves to this nonsense? But it gets better . . . the new Motorola HS850 blue-tooth headset uses another wacky plug -- totally incompatible with the H500 one. UGH!!!! All my accessories and cords I had gained are now useless on the new devices, and now I have to buy new cords/adapters for the new devices. The new device (Palm 700WX) didn't even come with a charging base like my 6700 did. Technology sometimes just doesn't make sense . . . or is it corporate greed that doesn't make sense? Your call.
